Julie Frietchen became the Director of the Women’s and Human Rights Department March 1, 2022. Prior to becoming director, she was an Education Representative at the Winpisinger Center since 2009. She started her career as a Continental flight attendant and is a more than 30-year member of the IAM. Julie served in many union capacities including president of Local Lodge 2339, base chairperson, and district lodge organizer. In 2000, she became a general chairperson for District Lodge 142 and has extensive experience in contract negotiation and administration. Julie earned a Master’s degree in Work and Labor Policy with an Advanced Certificate in Women and Gender Studies from SUNY and a Bachelor of Arts degree in labor studies from the National Labor College.
