Paul Kendall became the Assistant Secretary to the General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes in October 2017. He works with GST Cervantes to ensure the organization’s membership and assets are secure.
Kendall became a member of IAM Local 475 in Grand Rapids, MI in June of 1992, working for Cummins Diesel. He became Local 475’sSecretary-Treasurer in 1994. Kendall also held the positions of Committeeman, Shop Steward, Machinists State Council Delegate, and IAM District 97 Secretary-Treasurer. As an active member in the community, Kendall was elected as one of the youngest public school Board of Education members in Michigan for the Kelloggsville Public School System at the age of 19. Along with being a trustee on the board from 1989 to 2000, he held the positions of Recording-Secretary and Treasurer.
In 2000, IAM General Secretary-Treasurer Donald Wharton appointed Kendall as an IAM Grand Lodge Auditor. In this position, he serviced over 120 lodges for more than 16 years in eight states while assisting with financial officers’ training and fee reduction audits. In October 2016, Kendall was selected by General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes to serve as Chief of Staff to the General Secretary-Treasurer.
Kendall has dedicated over half his life to servicing the membership of the IAM. He has attended numerous classes at the IAM’s Winpisinger Center and holds an associate’s degree in liberal arts and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in forensic accounting. He has one daughter, Jordan.
